Burg Kreuzenstein

With the winter slowly retiring, it’s time to leave the apartment again. But it was still cold on the day I visited this impressive castle right outside Vienna. It’s a short S-Bahn trip away from the city, but then you still have some distance to cover on foot from there (around 3 km I think).

The castle is really impressive, but it’s relatively new… in a way. It was build in the 19th century on the remains of an early medieval castle, using material bought from other medieval structures.  Unfortunately for us the only way to go into the castle is with a guided tour that costs around 10 euro, but neither me, nor my boyfriend had cash on us and we couldn’t pay with card, so we had to leave with only a glimpse from inside.  We have to go back one day, I suppose.
